1 oz Gold American Eagle Quality

To ensure the quality and purity of each coin, the gold must come from the U.S. itself and be augmented with the alloy of copper and silver to make a more durable coin of 22 karats (91.6% gold, 8.6% copper-silver alloy), ensuring top crown gold rating, an English standard for these coins.  It is a misconception that the 22 karat gold coins contain less than the stated ounce.  While most investors don’t understand the true measurement of the Gold American Eagle coins, the 1 oz Gold Coins do in fact boast 1 full oz of gold. Although, the 1 oz Gold American Eagle comes at a slightly higher premium than the value of the gold’s weight, it is viewed as a great investment tool; very popular for quite some time now.

Gold American Eagle Coin As An Investment Opportunity

The Gold American Eagle poses a tremendous investment opportunity for several reasons.  First, unlike our much loved platinum metals, palladium, or silver, gold is collected for accumulation, and not consumption.  Gold is viewed solely as a monetary source, or for beauty, but nothing more.  It doesn’t have the industrial application that many other metals are used for and as a result, its increasing value is accepted on an international level, not a regional/industrial one. Gold coins hold a pure value.  In other words, with gold there is no tarnishing, corrosion, and there are no levels or grades of quality.  The quality of gold remains, regardless of its age.  Gold holds its value through the ages, and more importantly, as the economy sees some of the biggest economic losses in history, driving the value of the dollar lower and lower each year,  it is gold that sees huge leaps in value and overall worth.  Most of the world’s currencies can’t hold a candle to the value of gold and the popularity of the precious metal has increased, driving the demand up while various countries battle for the greatest gold accumulation. There are a great number of reasons to invest in gold while we face such turbulent economic times.  Gold is the perfect hedge against inflation.  You see, as inflation increases, the price of gold increases as well.  As the outlook for many economies, especially in the U.S. is viewed as quite grim, its’ important to understand the crucial role of gold.  We face multi-million dollar bailouts for corporations and banks, have a grotesquely large trade deficit, and are the biggest debtor nation in the world.  With all of these unfavorable circumstances plaguing the American economy, the U.S. dollar value continues to plummet.  Amidst all of this, gold continues to rise and increase value, despite the condition of the dollar.

Gold American Eagle Coins As A Safe Haven

In times of economic turmoil the perfect safe haven for your assets is in gold.  This is especially true of time of war and world crisis.  Gold outperforms other investments when confidence in the country’s currency is low.

Although the gold price may fluctuate, over the very long run gold has consistently reverted to its historic purchasing power parity against other commodities and intermediate products. Historically, gold has proved to be an effective preserver of wealth and a safe haven in times of economic and social instability. In a period of a long bull run in equities, with low inflation and relative stability in foreign exchange markets, it is tempting for investors to expect continual high rates of return on investments. It sometimes takes a period of falling stock prices and market turmoil to focus the mind on the fact that it may be important to invest part of one’s portfolio in an asset that will, at least, hold its value.
